Tokyo is enormous and seems to have no limits. It’s level of density is unsurpassed by any other city I have visited. I wouldn’t call it beautiful but fascinating. It is like a giant machine that operates miraculously without a hitch.
Yet moments of beauty caught me off guard on a daily basis: the amazing foliage colors of the maple trees; the home feel of the tiny restaurant where we had the best meals; the manholes which themselves are pieces of art; the way food is presented and celebrated; the ancient temples hugged between skyscrapers on both sides.
I was surprised to find out that a city as big as Tokyo did not lack warmth, coziness and feeling of peace. Strangely, I felt at home here right from the start.
