We landed in San Francisco exhausted. Not only physically but mentally too. The week preceding our departure was gruesome. We had to go through all of our possessions and separate into things we absolutely had to keep and things we could gift, recycle or throw away. Add to this material Armageddon the kids’ last day at school, the good byes with friends and neighbors and our beloved cat Pushek, the architecture projects we had to finish before we go and you get the picture. Complete madness. We were under-slept, anxious and felt completely unbalanced.
All of this mess landed in the hands of our dear friends Pavini and Ari. Staying with them was a life saver. It gave us a home away from home to regroup, collect ourselves and relax before the flight to Japan. San Francisco itself was healing with its ample sunshine, open vistas of rolling hills with snuggled together houses, bright blue expanse of sky and ocean. It felt good to have all of our stuff reduced to 4 medium backpacks, a laptop and a camera. Suddenly life was simple. Really simple. And time was ours to play with. We walked, explored, tried new foods, played, slept and made new friends…Here is a few of the things we saw along the way:
